Down In the Deep End

Saturday Night, November 14, 2009, New Haven's Cafe Nine hosted the official CD Release Party for The Deep End, the latest studio effort of all new material from CT's own Christine Ohlman, aka The Beehive Queen. I was excited to be there as a VIP guest on the basis of having provided the photography for The Queen and her band, Rebel Montez. While Christine & I are long time friends who have worked together before, this time was special because my work not only graced the cover but a full color booklet, the tray, et al, featuring photographs done in my studio as well as on location. I was especially proud of pushing to pump up the volume of the imagery via some experimental color processing. Other than that -- check out the CD for some GREAT rock'n'roll by this outstanding artist.

The Summit In Denver

I've been working with CTAM (that's the Cable & Telecommunications Assoc for Marketing) and Marketing Director Anne Cowan for over five years to photographed Member Portraits for a feature on their website. It's a revolving series that allows members to connect & get to know one another and has been a resounding success. This year was no different -- though the location certainly was. While the annual CTAM Summit has generally been held in East Coast cities, this year's was in Denver. The long-distance travel required delving into new technology that allowed for an even more portable studio than ever before. It's amazing what you can do now with the latest in remote wiring triggers that transmit all camera info to ever more powerful yet smaller flashes and new featherweight batteries. But the proof is always in the pudding and this year's batch of portraits were some of the best yet. Thanx to all the CTAM members who took the 15 minutes during their hectic Summit schedules to stop by "the studio" & become a part of the rotation!
